Oh boy, new stuff! I guess that's why they call these things news posts! Speaking of...
Inside this news post, there's some new stuff I'd like to announce that'll be coming out in the coming months alongside a second progress update for Galactic Blasters BR - Artist's Faith. The latter of which also comes with its own announcement regarding my planned participation in an event, so without further ado let's get straight into the content!
[Double Trouble, Past and Future ~ RadikalMusic Vol. 2]
Releasing on August 2nd, 2025, RadikalMusic Vol. 2 is an eleven track long electronic variety album that acts as a sequel to RGames Music Vol. 1, Sounds of the Cosmos. The style's quite different from anything I've done before, as I did quite a lot of experimentation with new software and VST instruments! However, I'm hoping it'll pave a path forward for how I make future music tracks--excluding ones that I'm making for already-existing projects of mine...
Did I forget to mention that the first track of the album is also the first I've put vocals into? Obviously they're synthesized via Alter/Ego, but it's something that's new for me. Something similar can be said with the story, which follows Julian Yates as he arrives at the L.I.S.P. Space Station's city, Velo-City. There, he's forced to face something that he thought he left behind years prior... War. It touches upon topics that I haven't really touched upon in detail before to make a more compelling story, and introduces elements important to the lore of Earth in the fictional RadikalGames universe! So I'd say even if you're not a music type of person, RadikalMusic Vol. 2 will be worth checking out for just the story!
[Galactic Blasters D - Future Darkness ~ Official Soundtrack Vol. 1]
Coming in two volumes with the WAV and MIDI soundtracks respectively, the official Galactic Blasters D soundtrack will start heading to my Bandcamp page! You may be asking, "why not release it on Newgrounds like previous soundtracks?" Well... I had a bit of a run-in with an automatic copyright false flag on one of my tracks here (which I don't blame this site for as it can happen sometimes, but it did give me a lot of stress).
I wonder what happens if you put this and Vol. 2's album art together once the latter releases?
The release of the official Galactic Blasters D soundtrack will start with Vol. 1 on July 26th, 2025, containing all the WAV tracks alongside some unused and early tracks. There's even a couple that have never been released to the public! As for Vol. 2, as already said it'll have the game's MIDI soundtrack, though I haven't actually put it together yet because I'm not sure whether to record the tracks through SC-VA myself or get someone's help to record them through a real SC-8820 (which I think might have better quality over its VST counterpart)... All this to say Vol. 2 will be releasing later this year.
[Galactic Blasters BR - Artist's Faith ~ Progress Update]
Should I rename RadikalGames to VaporwareGames at this point, because I missed the May 2025/June 2025 release timeline I wanted for this game? Ah well, it for sure will come out by the end of this year. Right? RIGHT??? Oh, I need to get back on track for I've gotten too off the rails again...
I intend on entering Galactic Blasters BR into this year's SAGE, since I've got enough new stuff in it since the last public release to warrant putting it into SAGE 2025. It'll have the first three stages with all bosses fully implemented, as well as the return of the music player!
I'm not spoiling the track names!
For what I've actually got done in the latest development build, it's mostly menu-related changes. The music player is of course accessible now with the fonts being updated to match the rest of the UI. There's a new saved data menu allowing you to go into not just the already-present high scores menu, but also two other menus dedicated to your achievements and seen endings (as opposed to having both be a part of the same menu like previous entries). Finally, I've also done some more minor UI changes including (but not limited to) changing the color of the menu cursor from blue to yellow to make it more visible in the green-colored menus. And the new cursor color fits in with Johnathan Slade's color scheme too, so it's a double plus!
Now for in-game stuff I've got a few ultra difficulty attack patterns for Stage 3's final boss done. At least, that's assuming I don't decide they're too easy, hard, or especially unfair. Getting the rest of the boss' patterns done before the SAGE 2025 deadline should be easy enough though, as I've got over a month left before it approaches. Another thing I added was an updated soundtrack for MIDI users, with most of the soundtrack (at least, what's made so far) getting SC-VA/8820/8850 versions and the couple of tracks that were already present having updated mixing. If you've got the technical know-how needed to hook up a compatible sound module up to a computer, your ears will certainly be rewarded...
So what's the takeaway here? Well... Look forward to an up-to-date Galactic Blasters BR making an appearance in SAGE, I guess! A-And I swear I'll release the full version this year!!!
[Conclusion]
In conclusion, I've got a whole bunch of stuff planned in the coming months, with albums coming in the following weeks. I don't think I have much else to say here except for my usual closing line. So until next time, this has been RGamesOfficial, signing out from the Radikal dimension...
