I've got multiple smaller things on my mind that wouldn't fit a full news post...
[RMenu Discontinuation Notice]
First of all, the RMenu series of batch UIs (essentially mock operating systems made in the batch language for Windows' command prompt) will be discontinued on September 1st, 2025 to clean up my portfolio of content on itch.io. I basically lost all interest in continuing development on it any further, since what use would a batch UI even have besides being neat? And I want to focus RadikalGames more towards games and music and stuff, instead of trying to make a platform that's too redundant to be useful.
So once September 1st, 2025 comes around what's going to happen? Well I'll try to unpublish the pages for everything RMenu related on itch.io. I won't outright delete them (unless I can't just hide them), but you won't be able to access them beyond this date. But that doesn't mean RMenu's going to be completely gone, as I'll try to upload everything I've got for RMenu onto the RadikalGames Archive on the Internet Archive at some point in the future.
[Quest Series Renaming?]
Another thing that I've got on my mind is a potential renaming of the Quest series. Why? Well... I wasn't aware that the name "Quest" was already taken by another series of RPG games! You see, I chose the name thinking there weren't any other RPG games named Quest, but lo-and-behold Imagineer beat me to the punch 22 years prior with Quest 64 on the Nintendo 64! And yes, they also developed a Game Boy Color demake of it a year later named Quest: Brian's Journey.
I was not aware of the existence of these games during Quest - The Adventure for the 6 Stones' development, but ever since I found out about Imagineer's Quest series I was worried about my Quest series being confused for it. I mean heck, both series even have a Brian character! But I believe by this point SubQuest was released and Quest 2 was in development (especially given the latter entered development right after Quest was completed), so it was a bit late to change the name...
Which is where I come in today to propose a name change now. If I go through with it, my Quest series would become the LightQuest series. Yes, there's already one game named LightQuest, but at least it's in a completely different genre! In addition, SubQuest would keep its original name since it's already differentiated enough name-wise (and I'm too lazy to set up gbsenpai on my new laptop).
On another note, I've already decided to rename the Virtual Pet series to the ShaPet series (as suggested by Kowan011. My original idea was to rename it to Shape Pets) to differentiate it from the genre itself, though any games or stories taking place on Earth prior to and including Quest 2 (or LightQuest 2) will retain the Virtual Pet naming for timeline reasons.
[Conclusion]
In conclusion, these are just some things I've had in-mind for a while. Whether or not I'll rename the Quest series isn't certain, but judging by how I feel towards not wanting my games to be confused for other games, it's probably pretty likely I'll go forward with it. This has been RGamesOfficial, signing out from the Radikal dimension...
